FrozenHaddock Tutorials: Cool Navigation Bar

In this tutorial we will be making this clean navigation bar
in flash for use on websites etc.

Right, Lets get started!


Colours
Right, set your stroke to transparent, and your fill to black.

Rectangle
Double click the rectangle tool, and set the corner radius to 15.

Properties
Draw out your rectangle, and select it. change the properties to these.

copying
Copy the rectangle.

second rectangle properties
Change the rectagles properties to this, and change the colour to red (for now)

barsofar
You should have something like this now.

Gradient
Now, open your colour mixer and create some sort of metallic gradient, you
could follow this one, or create your own.

dragpaint
Drag the paint bucket upwards.

You'll get something like this.

layers
Now you want to setup your layers like this.

strokecolour
Change your stroke colour to black

lineproperties
Draw out a line, and give it these settings.

strokecolour2
Change your stroke colour to a lighter colour, and draw another line, next to
the current one.

You want to create something like this to seperate your NavBar buttons.

barsofar2
Copy this, and distribute them across your NavBar.

layers2
Create a new layer called text, be sure to lock the other layers.

text
Add any text you want to add to your buttons.

selected
Select the entire NavBar (you'll need to unlock your layers.

HitF8
Hit F8, and slect Movie Clip.

Buttonselection
Zoom in, and select a single button.

HitF82
Hit F8, and select button.

bardone
Repeat this for each of the buttons.

There you have it, a nice clean looking Navigation bar.
