FrozenHaddock Tutorials: Shooting 1: Trigonometry. In this first part of our shooting tutorials, you will gain basic knowledge of how to direct a bullet in flash. WARNING! this tutorial contains a butchered form of trigonometry, so be wary!
This diagram represents how we figure out the trajectory of projectiles in flash, this tutorial won't go into the details on the actionscript, that comes later. Basically, you will give your projectile an x and y speed, which will be added to the _x and _y of the projectile once it is fired. To figure this out we need to follow the diagram above. Have a look now, and we'll go into detail in our next shooting tutorial, which will cover the AS begind this, and rotation. In the meantime, you could go and read the guest tutorial on rotation by Foundation Flash. Written by: TazzyDevil XIII
